Michael Bernard Duffy – 1835 – October 13, 1918
Michael Duffy, age 84 years, died at his home, 321 Almond street, at 10:30 p.m. yesterday, death being due to old age.
Mr. Duffy was the oldest of a family of 12 boys and three girls. Eleven brothers and one sister survive him. For 55 years he resided on a farm four miles south of Fairbank. The last few years the youngest son has operated the farm.
When he entered army service, the farm was rented and Mr. Duffy moved to Waterloo, last March.
Surviving are 12 children: James, Reno Nev.; Mary and Margaret, at home; Dan, Dallas, S. D.; Gervase, Cinncinnati, O.; William, Waterloo; Mrs Theodore Myers, Flanders, S. D.; Mrs. Van Hooser, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Frank Determan, Nezperce, Ida.; Gerald, Waterloo; Walter, at home; and Carlos, who is in the medical corps, Camp Sheridan, Ala.
The body is at the O'Keefe & Towne mortuary, pending funeral arrangements. Burial will be at Fairbank.
