WATERLOO - Elmer H. Klein Jr., 90, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at home.

He was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Otterville, Mo., son of Elmer H. and Mattie Mae Watring Klein. He married Evelyn Merle Bohling on Sept. 26, 1946, in Sedalia, Mo. She died May 2, 1989.

He was a machinist in the engine plant at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 36 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by two daughters, Robin Kathryn (Bob) Rada of Muscatine and Lynn (George) Westcott of Waterloo; a son, Mike of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Julie (Lee) Sorenson, Kelly (David) Geerdes and Jaycie and Jaelynn Klein; four great-grandchildren, Pfc. Roy Tiefel, MA Brandi Tiefel and Jordyn and Riley Sorenson; and a special friend and partner, Vanita Shadle of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a brother.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Elmer loved traveling through the 48 states, fishing and dancing.
