Ruth Helen Miller was born June 11, 1918 in Eagle Township, Black Hawk County, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Mary (Frey) Ebaugh. She died Monday, April 5, 1999 at her home in Evansdale, Iowa at the age of 80 years.

She married Ralph Virgil Miller January 29, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1982. Ruth graduated from Janesville High School in Janesville, Iowa. She was past Matron of Eastern Star Equity Lodge Chapter #6, Janesville.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Finger of Elk Run Heights, Iowa and Virginia "Ginny" Peverill of Waterloo, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Miller of Cedar Falls, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Penni Sanderson, Ricki and Randi Finger, Angie, Toby and Brian Lawrence, Sheila Hackman and Claude Miller; sixteen great grandchildren, Justin, Adam, Jacob, Zachery and Kelsey Lawrence, Jermaine and Roosevelt Gary, Bill, Brandy and Brittany Sanderson, Ryan, Codi, Jordan and Brianna Finger, and Heather and April Hackman; and her brother, Leland Miller of Denver, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son Kenneth L. Miller, three brothers, Virgil, Ralph and Marvin Ebaugh and three sisters, Mildred McVey, Edna Petersen and Arlene Briden.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 1999 at First United Methodist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. A public Eastern Star service was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Cancer Treatment Center in Waterloo.
