JAMES H. “JIM” VAUGHN, 71, of Cedar Falls, died of cancer at his home on Sunday, July 15, 2007. He was born June 17, 1936 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Albert S. and Esther E. (Harms) Vaughn.

Jim married Marlene Winzenburg on May 22, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Frederika, Iowa. He worked for John Deere & Company in Waterloo for 30 years, and later was the owner and operator of Jim’s Home Maintenance for 18 years. Jim was a member of the Shriners and the Supervisors Club, both in Waterloo.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Vaughn, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Brenda (Jack) Harken of Aplington, Iowa and Renee ( Dr. Christopher) Bryant of Bourbonnais, Illinois; a son, Bryan (Charo) Vaughn, of Bradley, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Samuel Harken, Ivan Harken, Justin Voss, Erin Bryant, Adrienne Bryant, Patrick Vaughn, Keenan Bryant, Alexi Voss and Ursula Vaughn; and two brothers, Albert Vaughn of Belton, Missouri and Bennie Joe (Nancy) Vaughn of Cedar Falls.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9—11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.
