WATERLOO - William John "Hooker" Lippert, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 3, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center of lung cancer.

He was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Waterloo, son of Albert and Cecelia Weber Lippert. He married Germaine Gerleman July 24, 1965, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1943. He was an office manager at John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by his wife; three daughters, Lisa, Anita and Teresa, all of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Colton Lippert, Eric Henson and Michael Henson; three brothers, Clarence of Des Moines, Richard (Dolores) of Rockford, Ill., and Clarendon "Butch" of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister, Dorothy Amundson of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Ann.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
