WATERLOO, IOWA - Robert M. "Bob" Turner, 77, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, January 25, at his home.

He was born August 30, 1934, in Mason, Mich., son of John Ellis and Virginia Arlene Martini Turner. He married Sarah Cozzens October 19, 1969, in Reno, Nevada.

Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner/operator of his long-distance trucking company, retiring in 2004. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1623, and was instrumental in establishing the truck driving program at Hawkeye Community College in 1978.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Robyn (Shona) of Oregon, Randall of Minneapolis and Ryan Jon (Debbie) of Medford, Oregon; three daughters, Cheryl (Glenn) Redland of Lansing, Mich., Carol (Cam) Jones of Arlington, Virginia, and Christine of Mason, Michigan; four sisters, Virginia (Don) Lauenstein and Ruth Ann Doughty, all of Mason, Michigan, Florence (Ron) Church of Florida and Linda Lease of Lansing, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Edwina Turner of Mason, Michigan; 15 grandchildren, including Jennifer Turner of Waterloo; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Allen, Fred and Jack; and a brother-in-law, Ron Doughty.

There will be no services, his body was cremated. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Bend Humane Society or the truck driving division at Hawkeye Community College.
