WATERLOO - Melba Ione Hodgin Harbaugh, 83, of Friendship Village, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born March 2, 1928, in Ceresco, Neb., daughter of Max and Minnie Gustafson Hodgin. She married Merlin Harbaugh on Oct. 19, 1947, at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren

Mrs. Harbaugh graduated from Orange High School in 1945. She and her husband farmed in Orange Township. She also worked at John Deere for two years and for the Waterloo Community School System for 10 years. She was a member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Larry (Lynnie) of Portland, Ore., and Dennis (Juanita) of Waterloo; two daughters, Carolyn Bellfy and Diane (Kevin) Sittig, both of Waterloo; a foster son, Carl (Lorena) Hunnicutt of Independence, Mo.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Lyle (Donna) Hodgin; and two sisters, Marian (Milo) Christiason and Carol Hensley.

Preceded in death by a son-in-law, Peter Bellfy.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren, preceded by private burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Friendship Village.
