Rosalie Mikkelsen was born March 15, 1939, in Iowa Falls, the daughter of Guy and Ruby (Cessford) Kay. She died Thursday, November 2, 2006, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center in Waterloo, Iowa.

She graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1957. She married John Green in 1959; he died in December 1960. She then married John Birkett; they later divorced. On December 30, 1988, she was united in marriage to Larry Mikkelsen in Waterloo, Iowa.

Rosalie worked for Heilig-Meyers Furniture Co. in Waterloo, and was later employed by Sears in Crossroads Shopping Center, also in Waterloo.

Rosalie is survived by her husband, Larry of Waterloo; three daughters, Pamela (Kevin) Tschantre of Snohomish, WA, Barbara (fiance Jason Vaughn) Wood of Columbia, MO, and Janet (Jeffrey) Kurth of Ackley, Iowa; son, John (Mindy) Birkett of Lodi, CA; two step-sons, Steve (Tindi Cady) Mikkelsen of Cedar Rapids, and Brad (Rachael) Mikkelsen of Savage, MN, currently serving in Iraq; sister, Darlene Borzon of Cleveland, OH; and sixteen grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Kay; and daughter Mary Ann Birkett.
