George M. Myer died Friday, October 6, 2006 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born on May 17, 1925, in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Henry J. and Grace (Doeden) Meyer.

On August 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Gladys V. Van Hauen at her family home in rural Fern, Iowa. George farmed near Dike until 1963, and then worked for Clay equipment until retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Joyce (Frank) Hendershot of Orange Park, Florida, and Judy (Mike) Ravn of Cedar Falls; a son, George (Nancy) Meyer Jr., of Apollo Beach, Florida; 9 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John; and a sister, Ann Osborn.
