Evelyn Talbot

Evelyn R. Pfeiffer Talbot, 85, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of New Hartford and the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Born May 6, 1922, in rural Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Luther and Margaret "Maggie" Sammons Christner. In 1938, she married Ralph Pfeiffer. They divorced. On Oct. 12, 1946, she married Glenn Howard Talbot in Minnesota. He died Dec. 16, 2000.

Mrs. Talbot worked at Restaurants in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area and at Henson's Upholstery Shop. She attended country school. She enjoyed cooking, camping and fishing, especially at Diamond Lake near Montezuma.

Survivors include two sons, Luther Pfeiffer of Mount Pleasant and Lee Pfeiffer of Oskaloosa; three daughters, Julia "Judy" Herman of North Liberty, Wanda Wood of Nevada state and Sharon Ferch of Waterloo; one brother, Ed Christner of Winter Haven, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joan Wiley of Salem and Mae Meth of Arkansas.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, her first husband, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant where family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

The funeral for Evelyn Pfieffer Talbot will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Shafer officiating. burial will be at 2 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.
