Marvin Calvert died Monday, June 5, 2006, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City. He was born January 4, 1911, on the family farm near Rock Falls, IA.

He was a 1927 graduate of Rock Falls High School and attended Hamilton College in Mason City.

On June 8, 1935, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Edgar in Rock Falls. She died May 11, 1972.

He was employed at Viking Pump in Cedar Falls for 47 years, retiring as Vice President in charge of advertising. He was past President of the Cedar Falls Lions Club, member of the Boardman Boosters Sunday School class, Methodist Men, taught 9th grade Sunday school, publisher of the Viking Vacuum News Letter, and worked at setting up the Viking Pump room at the Wyth House. Marvin loved fishing at McGregor, his many trips abroard, photography and gardening.

Marvin is survived by his daughter, Mary E. (William) Rechkemmer of Waverly, IA; granddaughters, Dr. Penny Rechkemmer of Baltimore, MD and Holly (Jay) Bark of Nashua, IA; and four great grandsons, Levi, Ramsey, Zachary, and Blaine Bark, all of Nashua, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant daughter, Mary Kay; grandson, David Rechkemmer; sisters, Ruby Calvert and Hazel Christensen; and brothers, Fay, Glenn, Eldro, and Ray Calvert.
