CEDAR FALLS - Mary H. Leland, 86, formerly of Western Home Communities Willowwood, died Monday, May 29, 2006 at Bishop Drumm Care Center, Johnston.

She was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Des Moines, daughter of Glen D. and Elizabeth Deemer Head. She married Wilfred "Bill" C. Leland on Nov. 1, 1945, in Waterloo. He died March 23, 1998.

Mrs. Leland had served as a med tech in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She attended Drake University for two years and had been employed at Allen Memorial Hospital as a medical technician, retiring in 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Leland of Johnston; and three brothers, James (Carole) Head of Freeland, Mich., E. Harrison (Vera) Head of Cummings and Glenn (Darene) Head of Pleasant Hill.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery chapel, with burial there. Public visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Thursday at the cemetery chapel.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.
