LA PORTE CITY - Alice K. Janss, 87, of Belle Plaine, formerly of La Porte City, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, of natural causes.

She was born March 30, 1924, on a farm near La Porte City, daughter of Jurgen and Theresa Arp Jebe. She married Henry Fleisher on Sept. 26, 1948. He preceded her in death. She married Donald Janss on August 26, 2006, in La Porte City.

Mrs. Jans graduated from Dysart High School in 1942 and had spent most of her life farming. She also worked for the hatchery in Dysart and Hicks Plumbing and had been a member of the La Porte City Garden Club and Neighborhood Community Club.

Survived by her husband; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and two brothers, Wesley and Emil Jebe.

Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at American Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City.

Memorials may be directed to the LPC FFA Ag Museum.

Alice enjoyed quilting.
