WATERLOO - Glenn Leroy Kersten, 73, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Jan. 1, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born July 29, 1938, in Dysart, son of Glen H. and Ann I. Silhanek Kersten. He married Lois M. Trainor on June 12, 1980, in Quincy, Ill.

Mr. Kersten graduated from Geneseo High School in 1957 and farmed with his father. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, then worked for Chamberlain Manufacturing Co., Sylvia Truck Line and Trainor Trucking Inc.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Susan Kersten and Lisa Marie Oliver; three sons, Douglas, Richard and Michael; three stepdaughters, Mary Woodward, Jody (John) Lundy and Sandra (Leon) Meyer; a stepson, Jack (Lori) Trainor; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis (Donna) of Dysart and Gary (Evelyn) of Traer; and a sister, Donna (Bill) Stevens of Success, Mo.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by the Iowa Army National Guard and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
