Burton F. Beck, 64, of Home Park Boulevard, safety supervisor for Takin Bros. Freight Lines, Inc., died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday of uremia and complications in St. Francis Hospital, wehre he had been under treatment for the past 10 days.

Born February 23, 1879, in Waverly, Iowa, he was the son of Cyrus and Mary Beck. On October 17, 1904, he married Alice Cronin in Waverly.

Mr. Beck was in an ice cream manufacturing concern at Waverly until 1911, when he moved to Waterloo. Here he was associated for several years with the Fosselman Ice Cream Co. and for the past six years been safety supervisor for Takin Brothers Freight Lines.

Surviving, besides the widow, are one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Holmes, South Ben, Indiana; two brothers, Cyrus and Door*, both of Lancaster, Minnesota; and three grandchildren.

One son, William, preceded him in death, in 1929.

Mr. Beck was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, United Commercial Travelers and a former member of Knights of Columbus.

The body was taken to the O'Keef & Towne Funeral Home, and will be returned to the late residence Friday morning.

* This reasearcher has not heard of the given name "Door" but that's how the obit was printed. Searching the Census records there is an item "U..S. Public Records Index, Volume 2, Schools, Directories & Church Histories" showing a Door S. Beck in Indiana. No dates provided. Genealogy Bank shows 7 historical listings with that name.
