SIOUX CITY - Wendy K. Stapella Certain, 49, of Sioux City, formerly of Waterloo, died Dec. 23 in Sioux City.

She was born Dec. 10, 1962, in Waterloo, daughter of Robert and Sandra Woods Stapella. On Jan. 27, 2010, she married Stanley Certain.

Mrs. Certain graduated from high school in Waterloo, then attended Killian Community College, Sioux Falls, S.D. She later continued her education and obtained her master's degree in accounting in 1996. She worked at the Good Samaritan Society, Sioux Falls, from 2001 to 2009. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Wendy enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with her husband. She was an avid reader, loved country music, and shopping for shoes. Wendy's favorite quote was "one door closes, another door opens."

Survived by her husband; two sons, Matt Hall and Nick Ellsworth; five stepchildren, Jonathan, Stefan, Joshua, Steven and Tisha Certain; two grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; her parents of Waterloo; four brothers, Eugene, Ben and Byron Stapella, and Michael Tuman; a sister, Lynn Middlen; and her maternal grandmother.

Services: noon Wednesday at Central Baptist Church, Sioux City, preceded by an hour of visitation. Arrangements by Waterbury Funeral Service, Sioux City.
