WATERLOO - Franklin E. Mettner, 79, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 24, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Waterloo, son of Fred and Gertrude Haupt Mettner Sr.

Mr. Mettner attended Irving, West Junior and graduated from Waterloo West High School. He furthered his education for a couple of semesters at the University of Iowa. He was employed at Northern Natural Gas, currently ENRON, until their downsizing in 1993. He then was a courier for Velocity for seven years.

Survived by a brother, Fred Jr. of Waterloo; his twin sister, Frances Dickinson of Los Gatos, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Gertrude Rokes-Nottger, Caroline Gaddis-Jabens and Dorothy Ackerson.

There will be no services, he donated his body to the University of Iowa. Burial will be at a later date. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, assisted the family.

Franklin enjoyed fishing.
