ARBUCKLE, Delbert D. 1934-2011

WATERLOO - Delbert D. Arbuckle, 77, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, Dec. 5.

He was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Waterloo, son of Jesse and Mary Jenkins Arbuckle. He married Elaine E. Pippert on Sept. 20, 1954, in Waterloo, and they later divorced. He married Donna M. Anderson Wagner on March 6, 1972, in Jesup.

Mr. Arbuckle graduated from La Porte City High School in 1951. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1994. Following retirement he managed Pinewood Resort, Hackensack, Minn., for 17 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Washburn and a social member of the Evansdale AMVETS Club.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Debbie Arbuckle and Kathy (Jeff) Gors, both of Waterloo; two sons, Steven of Waterloo and Dale of Albany, Ore.; three stepdaughters, Lynette (Jeff) Hinkle of Marshalltown, DeAnn Waniorek of Waterloo and Ramona (J.D.) Hamilton of Tupelo, Miss.; a stepson, William Wagner of Owatonna, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dean of Arkansas Springs, Ark., and James of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patricia Haefner.

Celebration of Life: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Evansdale AMVETS Club, 706 Colleen Ave., Evansdale, 50707. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 2880, Waterloo 50704-2880 or Cedar Bend Humane Society, 1166 W. Airline Highway, Waterloo 50703, in lieu of flowers.

Delbert loved motorcycles and was the Canadian National Hill Climb champion in 1971. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and participating in bowling league. Delbert was fond of dogs, especially his beloved Aussie.
