WATERLOO - Mary Elizabeth Duncan Oltman, 90, of West Des Moines, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

Mary was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of Leonard and Julia Klaus Priebe. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1940. She married Ernest L. Duncan on April 20, 1947, in Waterloo. He died Sept. 28, 1984. She then married Ernest Oltman on April 30, 1988. He died Aug. 14, 2000.

She worked at Priebe Brothers Oil Co. for 32 years. In 1971, she and her husband became the owners of the Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Store at College Square Mall. They operated that store until their retirement in 1981.

Mary was active in many organizations, including No. 128 Eastern Star, Waterloo Women's Club, Friday Study Club, Madonna White Shrine, Waterloo Garden Club, PEO Chapter FE, American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Society and various card clubs. She was a lifetime member of Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church and was active in circles, Vacation Bible School and United Methodist Women.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Samuel) Ginn of West Des Moines; a son, Gary (Lucy) Duncan of Waterloo; two stepsons, John (Karen) Oltman of Cedar Falls and James (Jeanne) Oltman-Ripley of Golden Valley, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Anne (Larry) Lampe of Waterloo and Lois Marienau of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Heather Kerndt, Elizabeth Ginn, Logan Ginn, Mason Ginn, Julia Duncan and Dayton Duncan; six stepgrandchildren, Terry Lampe, Brenda Chase, Sheryl Stockdale, Jennifer Cole, Dan Oltman and Kevin Oltman; a great-grandson, Noah Kerndt; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers, Eldon (Jean) Priebe of Waterloo and Mary's twin, Laverne (Dorothy) Priebe of Bradenton, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation also one hour preceding services at the church.

Memorials may be made to Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church in Waterloo or WesleyLife in Des Moines.
