CEDAR FALLS - Duane W. Rindels, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 27, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Wellsburg, son of Jake and Anna Mollendorp Rindels. He married Maxine Mommer on June 25, 1949, at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.

Mr. Rindels served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a self-employed trucker, delivering freight for Viking Pump Co. until 1972, and worked for Black Hawk County Road Division, retiring in 1991.

Survived by his wife; a son, Gary (Carolyn) of Mountain Home, Ark.; two daughters, Bernice (Ozzie) LaFleur of Battle Creek, Mich., and Bonnie (Scott) Zegarac of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Anthony (Heather) Baker, Jessica (Chris) Thomas, Cassandra (Nathan) Alderman, Leslie (Jason) Fields and Joshua (Sarah) Amundson; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, LaVern of Waterloo, Eugene (Stella) of Shell Rock and Harold Lee (Georgia) of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Helen Danner of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a brother, Calvin; and three sisters, Irene Juhl, Vivian Hawley, and Beverly in infancy.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls.
