WATERLOO - Robert P. "Bob" Gauger, 76, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 31, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born June 14, 1935, and was adopted by Paul and Arleane Wittenburg Gauger in New Hampton. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Herman and Minnie Gauger. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Howe on June 23, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Gauger graduated from New Hampton High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Rath Meat Packing Plant for 13 years and later as an inspector for John Deere for 30 years, retiring in June 1997.

Bob was a scout master with the Knights of Columbus Boy Scout Troop. He enjoyed playing games and cards with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and traveling on road trips with his wife, Betty. He also loved camping with his family and friends.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Teri (William) Kohls of Waterloo; two sons, Timothy (Kelly) of Indianola and Trent (Nicole Waters) of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Bailey Jo and Brennan Robert Kohls and Vanessa Elizabeth and Evan Paul Gauger; a stepgrandson, Jonathan Kohls; a half brother, Dennis (Katie) Gauger; and three half sisters, Robyn (James) McLaren of Bollingbrook, Ill., Paulene (David) Davis of Sandy, Utah, and Linda (Dale) Clark of Jerome, Idaho.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a stepgrandchild, Billy Kohls.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.
