Daren J. Finney, 80, of Lake Shore, MN, formerly of Waterloo, IA died Sunday, September 21, at his home of cancer.

He was born June 2, 1928 in Cohasset, MN, son of Harry N. and Roxanna Axtell Finney. He married Orla M. Brant October 24, 1953 in Waterloo, IA.

Mr. Finney was employed in the street department by the city of Waterloo for 36 years, retiring in 1990. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II and the Korean Conflict. Daren loved family, fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He also enjoyed music and playing his guitar with friends.

Survivors include his wife of Lake Shore, MN; four sons, Craig (Mary Jo) Finney of Hopkins, MN, Donald (Danna) Finney of Anoka, MN, Brian (Paula) Finney of Brainerd, MN, and Lance (Pam) Wolff of Hedgesville, WV; two daughters, Cindy (Scott) McMurray of Lake Shore MN, and Brenda (J.R.) Mater of Silverton, TX; one brother, Emery (Helen) Finney of Waterloo, IA; one sister, Joy (Ray) Bryant of Las Vegas, NV; ten grandchildren, nine step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Finney; and one sister, Evelyn Sacksteder.

Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery both in Waterloo. Public visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and VFW Post 1623. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Pequot Lakes Baptist Church in Pequot Lakes, MN.
