Emily Jill (Em) Mormann, 26, of Waterloo, Iowa and formerly of Waverly, died Sunday, February 2, 2003, at her home in Waterloo.
Emily was born on June 18, 1976, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of James D. and Valerie (Burrier) Mormann. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly and graduated from the Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1995. Emily was a Certified Nurses Aid and employed by various nursing homes in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Denver and Waverly.
Em was a very loving, caring and free spirited person. She dearly loved her work (especially with the Alzheimer's patients) and had a great love for her dog (Smokey). Em loved to go fishing, but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends, '' she was an awesome aunt.''
She is survived by her parents, Jim and Val Mormann; two sisters, Melissa (Missy) Haislip (Dennis), and Katherine (Kate) Sloan (Christopher); her maternal grandparents, Leonard and Donna Burrier and her paternal step-grandfather, Deane Guyer all of Waverly; two nephews, Austin Sloan and Alexander Haislip and one niece; Allison Sloan.
Emily was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Elmer Mormann and Clara Guyer; and one aunt, Susan Weise.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 11:00 A.M. at Heritage United Methodist Church in Waverly, with Pastor Nathan N. Frazee officiating. Burial will be held in the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly.Visitation will also be held on Thursday an hour before services at the church.
The family requests rather than flowers, that memorials be directed to the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community Alzheimer's Unit.
