EVANSDALE - Virginia Lee "Ginger" Lavenz, 63, of Evansdale, died at home Sunday, Oct. 16, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 17, 1947, in Waterloo, daughter of Frank and Jacquie McMillian Smith. She married Russell Lavenz on May 7, 1994. He died Jan. 23, 2010.

Mrs. Lavenz graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1966. She worked as a recovery counselor at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, and also worked at Pearl Vision Center, waitressed at Garfield's and in Hudson, worked in the floral department at Hobby Lobby and was a self-employed floral designer. She was a member of Countryside Vineyard Church, Evansdale.

Survived by a son, Dustin Stone of Waterloo; two daughters, Jacquie Tatum of Waterloo and Tina (Don) Britt of Des Moines; a stepson, Brian Lavenz of Newton; a stepdaughter, Dana (Jerry) Meyer of Evansdale; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Denny (Kathy) Smith of Wisconsin.

Preceded in death by a great-grandson.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Countryside Vineyard Church, Evansdale. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, assisted the family.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
