WATERLOO - Patricia "Jean" Bartels, 81, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 2, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born June 13, 1930, in Dumont, daughter of Glenn and Beryl Williams Kelley. She married William "Bill" Bartels on Nov. 15, 1948, at Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died July 29, 2003.

Mrs. Bartels attended Hansell Consolidated Schools. She worked in the offices of Rath Packing Co. for a number of years, Chamberlain Manufacturing, John G. Miller Construction for seven years, St. Francis and Allen hospitals, E.D.S. and at GMAC for 13 years as a data processor and receptionist. She and her husband owned The Pizza Shack, Denver, for eight years until 1983. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Survived by two sons, Richard of Oelwein and James of Center Point; a daughter, Stacy Bartels of Oelwein; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen (Greg) Bandfield of Manchester; and two brothers, John (Edna) Kelley of Hansell and Steve Kelley of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Peg Hoing and Joan Miller; and a brother, Bob Kelley.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church, followed by cremation. Committal of ashes will be 1 p.m. Monday at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home.
