WATERLOO - Rodney K. "Rod" Dewitz, 57, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Oct. 1, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born Oct. 3, 1953, in Eau Claire, Wis., son of Kenneth O. and Shirley A. Christopher Dewitz. He married Cathy Dewitz on Nov. 18, 1974, in Waterloo, and they later divorced. He married Amelia Milks on Aug. 1, 1998, in Nashua.

Mr. Dewitz was employed by John Deere & Co. for 35 years, retiring in July 2011.

Survived by his wife; a son, Sean of Waterloo; a daughter, Erin Dewitz of West Des Moines; a stepson, Rick (Marisa Maas) Milks of Jesup; a stepdaughter, Kelly (Tony) Shader of Waterloo; five grandchildren; a brother, Mike (Joanie) of Glenwood; and four sisters, Pam Hastings of Omaha, Neb., Belinda (Larry) Weaver of Lancaster, Mo., Cathy (Ronnie) Knudsvig of Waterloo and Jennifer (Jolan) Cockrell of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with entombment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
