Ronald James Erne, 63, of Waterloo, passed away Sept. 18 at Rochester Methodist Hospital from lung cancer.

Ron is survived by his fiancee, Pam; four daughters: Angie Wilson, Aimee Erne, Dana Peterson (Stephen Lloyd), and Kara Dornbusch (Jon); 11 grandchildren: Sean, KayDee (Kyle), Cory, Mike, Taylor, Brady, Hailey, Morgan, Robert, Tyler, and Addison; and one great-grandchild: Adison.

He was preceded in death by his parents Valentine and Genevieve (Hoff) Erne. Ron was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1948.

Ron was recently retired from the Hawkeye Community College iowaWORKS program as an employment training specialist.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Hartman Reserve Nature Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All friends are encouraged to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Hartman Reserve in Ron's memory.
