Jerome “Jerry” Megan, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, August 2, 2008, under hospice care in Waterloo. He was born November 13, 1925 in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Harry and Harriett (Weiers) Megan.

Jerry married Marjorie M. Britt on March 27, 1951 in Lawler, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy on the L.S.M. Landing Craft #64 in the Philippines & Borneo from 1943 to 1946. Jerry farmed in Mt. Vernon Township from 1951 to 1986, after which he drove truck for Cedar Valley Farm service for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, of Cedar Falls; one son John Megan of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Catherine (Bill) Stensland of Forest City, Iowa , Mary (Lynn) Coen of Zearing, Iowa and Carol (Jim) Faust of Ankeny, Iowa; one daughter in law, Tammy (Kim) Davis of Waterloo; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and one sister Marylinn Hayes of Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Michael H. Megan in 1977 and Francis L. Megan in 1996.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Military rites will follow the service by the Denver American Legion #653. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cedar Valley Hospice, St. Patrick Catholic Church or to the family.
