Gerald E. "Jerry" Andorf, 81, of Dike, Iowa, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. He was born May 17, 1929 near Cedar Falls, the son of August and Marion (Gutknecht).

Jerry was a veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. He married Evelyn Joens December 19, 1954 at Denver, Iowa. Jerry and Evelyn farmed near Hudson for many years, retiring in 1996.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn, of Dike; two sons, James (Kathy) Andorf, of Marion, Iowa, and Mike Andorf, of Hudson; two daughters, Joy (Leonard) Wallace, of Jacksonville, Florida , and Sally (Brett) Phippen of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren, Maria Monhollen, Jeremiah Andorf, Rebecca Andorf, Beth Andorf, Rubie Andorf, John Andorf, and Michael Phippen; two great grandchildren, Madeline and Sophia Andorf; two sisters, Anna (Ernest) Bernard, of Wellsburg, and Lorraine Joens, of Waterloo.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Harold Andorf and one sister, Marie Pedersen.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, both in Rural Hudson. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, the Dike Fire Department, and Zion Lutheran Church. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
