WATERLOO - Richard A. Meyerhoff, 89, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 4, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Jan. 22, 1922, in rural Dunkerton, son of Leo and Alvina Lampbrecht Meyerhoff.

Mr. Meyerhoff graduated from Dunkerton High School and received his bachelor's degree from Iowa State Teachers College and his master's from New York University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He taught drivers education in the Waterloo Community Schools for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He also was employed as a textbook author by the Scott, Foresman Co., Evanston, Ill.

Survived by two daughters, Nancy Meyerhoff of Maple Grove, Minn., and Katy (Al) Schares of Cedar Falls; and two grandchildren, Olivia Schares and Henry Schares.

Preceded in death by a brother, George.

Memorial services will take place at a later date. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the Athletic Department at East High School.
