CEDAR FALLS - Paul Dunbar, 75, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Dubuque, son of Leo P. and Mary C. Horan Dunbar. He married Sara S. Cool on June 15, 1963, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Dunbar graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy, Waterloo, and attended Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara, Calif. He was employed with the Cedar Falls Fire Department from 1957 to 1965 and also worked as a professional photographer. He owned and operated The Pfeiffer Co., which later became Dunbar's Gift Shoppe, from 1965 until it closed in 1985. He worked as a sales rep for GK Enterprises while beginning his speaking career. Over the past 25 years, he presented his speaking program, Real Kids Real Life, at schools throughout the Midwest. This summer, he worked at Barnes Building Materials, Cedar Falls.

He served as treasurer of the Cedar Falls Lions and volunteered with UNI men's athletics. He began the Families in Action organization and worked to get the passage of the drug paraphernalia law in Cedar Falls. He was a member of Prairie Lakes Church.

Survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Bill) Horton of Grundy Center; a son, Stephen of Cedar Falls; and a niece, Mary Kay (Rick) Christ of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a son, Richard William; a sister, Catherine York; and a nephew, William York.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Prairie Lakes Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Service and an hour before services Friday at the church.
