CEDAR FALLS - John J. Terrones, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Aug. 26, at his home.

He was born May 21, 1929, in Ames, son of John and Josephine Bonilla Terrones. He married Alfaretta "Alfie" M. Wren May 16, 1953, in Ames.

Mr. Terrones served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a communications installer for AT&T for 34 years, retiring in 1988.

Survived by his wife; four sons, John J. (Linda) III of Waterloo, Jeff of Cedar Falls, J.P. of Boston and Travis of Baltimore; three daughters, Diana (Dave) Hudson of Cedar Falls, Luanna (Kirt) Weishaar of Stevensville, Mont., and Lori (Paul) Squillace of Erie, Colo.; two brothers, Tony (Pat) of Ames and Mark (Debbie) of Owatonna, Minn.; a sister, Mary Alderman of Ames; and five grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Tina; and four brothers, Tino, Jesse, George and Toche.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St Patrick's Catholic Church. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil followed by a rosary service. His body was cremated. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, Waterloo, is assisting the family.
