WATERLOO - James Odell Winters, 48, of Waterloo, died Friday, Aug. 5, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 19, 1962, in Vaiden, Miss., son of Henry and Oilie Mae Bailey Winters. He married Leslie Ann Dolton on Aug. 7, 2009, in Waterloo.

Mr. Winters worked in construction most of his adult life until becoming disabled.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Neal (Penny) Johnson, James Winters Jr. and Cameron Winters, all of Waterloo; three daughters, Dominique Ghoston of Greenwood, Miss., Shay Ghoston of Indianapolis and Tierra Winters of Waterloo; five stepchildren, Monterrius Seaberry of Dallas, Tanisha May of Milwaukee, and Marquita Dolton, Damonte Thornton and Jon'Tay Dolton, all of Waterloo; six grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; a brother, Elder Charles (Louise) Winters of Grenada, Miss.; and four sisters, Bemice Pickens of Chicago, Jenny (Robert) Miller of Dekalb, Miss., and Flora Owens (Fred Frost) and Lela Blackmon, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Alton Winters, Henry Winters, Willie Guyton and Sam Wright; and a sister, Melzine Winters.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 427 Cottage St., Waterloo 50703, where the family will greet friends. Friends may also call at 515 Courtland St. Greer Funeral Home is serving the family.
