DUNKERTON - Ronald C. Hewitt, 84, of Dunkerton, formerly of Dewar, died Thursday, July 28, at Covenant Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born July 11, 1927, in Waterloo, son of Elmer G. and Julia Smith Hewitt. He married Floy E. Price Oct. 21, 1953, in Waterloo. She died Aug. 21, 1996. He married Marjorie J. "Marge" Coney Sept. 7, 2002, in Angola, Ind.

Mr. Hewitt was a semi-driver at Western for 17 years and worked for the post office in Waterloo, retiring after five years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Survived by his wife; a son, Charles M. Sr. (Judy) of Parkersburg; a daughter, Vicky A. (Larry) Federspiel of Jesup; three stepsons, Robert E. Martin of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ted R. (Yuko) Martin of Denver, Colo., and David T. (Carey) Martin of California; two stepdaughters, Paula S. (Lee Ann) Martin of Pennsylvania and Ruth D. (Danny) Matthews of Auburn, Ind.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; 16 stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy; two brothers, Jim and Harold; and five sisters, Bertha, Esther, Beverly, Delores and Doris.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church-Bennington Township, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
