CEDAR FALLS - Harry W. Braun, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, July 23, of natural causes.

He was born July 24, 1919, in Eagle Center, son of Lloyd and Catherine Happ Braun. He married Bernardine Margaret Schneider on Nov. 18, 1941, at Eagle Center. She died Dec. 2, 2009.

Mr. Braun graduated from St. Mary's of Mount Carmel High School, Eagle Center. He was a combat wounded World War II veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne Division where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He owned and operated Braun Construction for 46 years.

Survived by a son, Richard (Dick) of Waterloo; a daughter, Romona “Mona” (Lee) Voelschow of Cedar Falls; three granddaughters, Christine (Glenn) Alexander, Corrine (Jim) Brown and Melissa (Brad) Davis; and five great-granddaughters, Caitlin, Brittany and Jessica Alexander, Sylvia and Annie Brown.

Preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Roland E. Braun; and three grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in Waterloo, with full military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary/vigil. There will be no visitation at the church before services.

Memorials may be directed to the church and Trappist Monastery.
