DUNKERTON - Dan Paul Magee, 83, of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Dunkerton, died Thursday, July 21, at Country Villa Bay Vista, Long Beach, of bone cancer.

He was born July 7, 1928, in Dunkerton, son of Paul Henry and Mary Beatrice Underwood Magee. He married Betty Chapin on Sept. 12, 1951.

Mr. Magee was a middle school teacher in Long Beach for nearly 30 years, beginning in 1960, and also had a second career as a Realtor with Century 21. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, with a master’s degree in intermediate education. He also served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Survived by three daughters, Michelle Magee, Kathy Zimmer and Jane Bond; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Belle Boyer of Jesup and Dawn Fisher of Davenport.

Preceded in death by a son, David; and two sisters, Hope Magee Pyle and Bess Magee Wellner.

Celebration of Life service: Tuesday at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Long Beach.
