WATERLOO - Bradley D. Holmes, 47, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 2, in Santa Fe, N.M.

He was born Feb. 26, 1964, in Iowa City, son of Larry D. and Carol J. Anderson Holmes.

He graduated from Waterloo Central High in 1982. Mr. Holmes served in the U.S. Army from 1982-85 as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He then moved to Seattle, where he lived and worked for five years before moving to Hawaii. He attended the University of Hawaii and was general manager of Dolphin Quest until moving to New Mexico in 2007. He attended the University of New Mexico, pursuing a nursing degree. He was a staffing specialist of nursing administration at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe.

Survived by his mother and stepfather, Carol and Dick Poppe of Waterloo; a brother Brian S. (Heidi) of Waterloo; a stepbrother, Trent (Tonya) Poppe of Clarksville; a stepsister, Kristin (Matt) Harms of Forest City; his grandmother, Leona Stockdale of Rockwell; and his girlfriend, Marsha Madrid of Santa Fe.

Preceded in death by his father; his grandmother; and his grandfathers.

Per his wishes his body was cremated. His ashes will be scattered along several scenic overlooks on Oahu where he and his biker "brothers" would stop to enjoy the beauty of the island.
