HUDSON - Jessie "Sue" Cool, 84, of Hudson, died Friday, Feb. 23, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.

She was born April 25, 1922, at Cincinnati, Iowa, daughter of Ira Franklin and Ethel Buelah Alexander Martin. She married Robert Dearl Cool on Oct. 8, 1939, in Unionville, Mo.

Mrs. Cool was baptized at Faith United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, where she graduated from Cincinnati High School in 1939. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and received her two-year teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools in Lick Creek Township, Davis County Bennington Township No. 9 and No. 2, Dewar and St. Mary's Catholic School in Waterloo. She also was a substitute in the Cedar Falls schools.

Preceded in death by a son, Robert "Wayne;" a grandson, Richard William Dunbar; two brothers, Richard Franklin Martin and Ralph Edwin Martin; a sister, Eva Beatrice Martin Milner; two nephews, James and Paul Milner; and a niece, Marilyn Martin.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard "Dick" Dearl (Sandy) of Waterloo; two daughters, Sara Sue Dunbar of Cedar Falls and Catherine Denise (Rusty) Bowman of Hudson; 10 grandchildren, Terri Linn Cool (Jay) Ala, Richard Brian Cool (Dawn), Jennifer Marie Dunbar (Bill) Horton, Stephen Leo (Jessica) Dunbar, Jacqueline Sue Cool (Keith) Jasperson, Christopher Michael Cool, Timothy Wayne (Analia) Cool, Alisa Ann Cool Anderson, Jamie Lynn Bowman (Charlie Votrobeck), and Daniel Scott Bowman; eight great-grandchildren, Brent, Brandon and Ryan Jasperson, Cory and Benjamin Anderson, Brianna Cool and Caroline and Spencer Cool; nieces, Dorothy Milner Rodgers, Evelyn Milner Hunt, Carolyn Martin and Joyce Martin Hurley; and two nephews, Donald and Jon Martin.

Services: 10:30 a.m. (note change in time of service) Thursday at Community Church, Hudson, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
