ZMOLEK, PULKRABEK, REITER, PATTEN

WATERLOO - Leonard W. Zmolek, 81, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 2, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was born June 2, 1930, in Traer, son of Fred and Agnes Pulkrabek Zmolek. He married Kathleen A. Reiter on Oct. 12, 1953, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Eagle Center.

Mr. Zmolek graduated from Orange High School in 1947. He worked for Rath Packing Co. for 33 years, then for the city of Waterloo for 17 years, retiring in 1994. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of Evansdale AMVETS Post Honor Guard.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Lureen (Earle) Patten of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Jennifer Forry, Kate (Rich) Price and Rose (Chad) Meyer, all of Clarksville, and Jesse Zmolek, and Zane and Clay Patten, all of Waterloo; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Kevin L.; and a brother, Donald.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial at 1 p.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Eagle Center. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
