WATERLOO - Roberta L. Brustkern, 93, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, June 22, at Allen Hospital.

She was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Lamoni, daughter of Robert and Zella Mader Allen. She married Arthur John Brustkern on Jan. 31, 1941, in Waterloo. He died June 8, 1984.

Mrs. Brustkern graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1934. She was a clerk at Black's Department Store and later was owner/operator of Evansdale Hardware and Variety for 40 years.

Survived by five sons, Robert N. (Ann), Timothy J. (Sandy) and Michael J. (Shelly), all of Waterloo, John A. (Janice) of Evansdale and Stephen A. (Janet) of La Porte City; two daughters, Bonnie (Dan) Rejman of Kiel, Wis., and Rosemary (Robert) Luna of Fort Collins, Colo.; 24 grandchildren, Michelle, Travis, Rob, Chris, Tammy, Jason, Scott, Adam, Dawn, Ben, Stephanie, Matthew, Travis, Josh, Tiffany, Michael, Sara, Jerome, Erlinda and Jermaine; 45 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edwin (Catherine) Allen of Omaha, Neb.

Preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Brustkern Jr.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the family with the beneficiary to be determined at a later date.
