WATERLOO, IOWA - Lyle E. Holmstrom, 87, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 20, at Rosewood Estates from natural causes.

He was born April 11, 1924, in Hazleton, son of Edward Herman and Mata Marie Agusta Deuhr Holmstrom. On April 17, 1945, he married Gloria E. Gramenz at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Holmstrom was a machinist at John Deere, retiring after 39 years of employment.

Survived by his wife; three daughters, Pamela (Richard) Gribstad of Bloomington, Minn., Deborah Holmstrom of Edina, Minn., and Cynthia Frederick of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Ben (Nicole) Bribstad of Mountain View, Calif., Nancy (Geoff) Milsow of Blaine, Minn., Allison Frederick of Princeton, N.J., and Ryan Frederick of Minneapolis; five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Sophie and Ella Grace Gribstad of Mountain View, and Max and Anna Milsow of Blaine; and a sister, Shirley Alshouse of Oelwein.

Preceded in death by three brothers, LaVern, Donald and Leon; and a sister, Gladys Keeter.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation. Burial will be private. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to River Hills School, 2700 Grand Blvd., Cedar Falls, 50613 or Valley Lutheran School, 4520 Rownd St., Cedar Falls, 50613, in lieu of flowers.

Lyle's family would like to thank the staff at Dr. Adams' office, Manorcare, Rosewood and Cedar Valley Hospice for all of their care and support.
