CEDAR FALLS - Jean Dunbar, 82, of Cedar Falls, died at home Saturday, June 18, of cancer.

She was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Canton, Ohio, daughter of Arlo and Delpha Schupp. She married Theodore Heavner in 1950, and they later divorced. She married John W. "Jack" Dunbar on Nov. 28, 1974. He died Feb. 4, 2008.

Mrs. Dunbar graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing, Cleveland, Ohio, and later earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. She worked as a nurse for more than 30 years. She also was an instructor of pediatric nursing at Lutheran Hospital, Cleveland. After her retirement she worked as an antiques dealer in Geneva, Ohio.

Survived by a daughter, Sandra (Bradley) Jensen of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter, Rachel Jensen of Iowa City; a sister, Martha Schupp Harper of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Warren (Joyce) Schupp of Geneva; two nephews; a niece; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Services at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva, at a later date. Iowa Cremation Society, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Hawkeye Community College Foundation, in lieu of flowers. Contributions to the Hawkeye Foundation will be used to establish the Jean Dunbar Healthcare Scholarship.
