Harold Andrew Reinicke, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.

Harold was born July 28, 1920, in Parkersburg, Iowa, the son of Herman & Dora (VanderAarde) Reinicke.

He married Wilma Walters November 11, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She preceded him in death January 9, 1999. He married Rita Pitzman September 2, 2000 at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death February 13, 2009. Harold served in the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific Theater of operations. He retired from John Deere in July of 1982 after 26 years of employment. Harold was a lifetime member of the AMVETS.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Dale) Geerdes, of Cedar Falls and Ruth (Robert) Mick, of Waverly; one step-son, Herb (Jackie) Pitzman, of Woodstock, Illinois; one step-daughter, Erika (Don) Hurst, of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Neil (Joy) Mick, Nathan Geerdes, Nicolaus Geerdes, Elizabeth Mick, and Leah Mick; five step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, several step great great grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Meyer, of Marshalltown and Erma Lindeman of Reinbeck; and one sister-in-law, Angie Reinicke, of Dike.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one step-granddaughter, Renee Hurst; two brothers, Vernon and Paul Reinicke; and one sister, Ruby Weber.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church, Christian Crusaders, or Cedar Valley Hospice.
