CEDAR FALLS - Helen M. Nichols, 100, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 15, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born July 20, 1910, in Andrew, daughter of William L. and Ida L. Hesse Cheney. She married Leslie H. Nichols Oct. 18, 1928, in Cedar Rapids. He died Sept. 28, 1981.

She graduated from Maquoketa High School and earned her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College. She taught briefly at a country school in Jackson County, before becoming a homemaker.

Survived by two sons, Wayne of Leesburg, Fla., and Dale (Velma) of Elk Run Heights; a daughter, Norma (Robert) Emmert of Hudson; five grandchildren, Linda (David) Barr, Charles (Monique) Nichols, Terri Derifield, Steven (Eileen) Emmert and Sheryl (Dennis) Maurer; 11 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Donna M. in infancy; three brothers, Arthur, Walter and Edwin Cheney; three sisters, Elizabeth Helfert, Violette Grislik and Dorothy Dirkes; and a daughter-in-law, Margarita.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice or New Aldaya Lifescapes.
