CEDAR FALLS - Wilbur Arthur Blanchard, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 8, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Sept. 22, 1919, in Cedar Rapids, son of Charles Edward and Clara Christiana Huck Blanchard. He married Anna "Anne" Lorraine Fowler on July 29, 1949, in Waterloo.

Mr. Blanchard served in the U.S. Army 133rd Infantry, Red Bull 34th Division, Co. D during World War II, in both North Africa and Italy. He worked for 16 years at Construction Machinery, Waterloo, and was a machinist for 23 years at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1983.

Survived by his wife; a son, Craig (Debra) of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Erik (Ashley), Lucas (Danielle), Leah and Shelby Blanchard, and Tiffany (Jason) White; three great-grandchildren, Kyler and Norah Blanchard, and Alivia White; and a daughter-in-law, Joan Blanchard of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Arthur; four brothers, Edward, Leslie, Richard and Vern; and a sister, Lucille Meaker.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Sullivan, Hartogh, Davis Post 730 Honor Flight or the church.
