WATERLOO — James A. Damon, 91, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 4, at Covenant Medical Center.
He was born July 24, 1919, in Oelwein, son of Fred and Edna Glazier Damon. After the death of his parents, he was raised by his aunt, Mable Damon. He married Edith M. Buls on March 19, 1941, in Waterloo.
Mr. Damon served in the US Army during World War II. He was employed in sales with Standard Battery, retiring in 1981.
Survived by his wife; a son, Roger (Verlene) of Parkersburg; a daughter, Janet (Don) of Mabel, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by three sisters and husbands, Bertha (Bill) Drinkle, Leona (Bill) Cross, and Letha (Lawrence) Kerns.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Memorials will be directed at a later date.
