WATERLOO - Eugene "Dinty" Moore, 84, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 6, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born April 26, 1927, in Fayette County, son of Thomas and Marjorie Moore. He married Dorothy Keefe April 26, 1949.

He attended Waterloo West High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was involved in the trucking industry his entire career, retiring from Ruan after 25 years as operations manager. Mr. Moore raced and hill-climbed Harley's in the 1950s.

He enjoyed a lifetime of camping, fishing and hunting with his family.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Tom (Sharron Freeman) of Nashville, N.C., Dennis of Fairbank, Chuck (Barb) of Denver and Paul (Sabrina) of Solon; three daughters, Cindy (Jerry) Ersland of Waterloo, Dorene Robinson (Bernie Schmitz) of Elk Run Heights and Sondra (Rod) Boehmer of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Ritzman.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Evansdale Amvets Post 31, Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Waterloo Military Honor Flights.
