WATERLOO - Edmund J. Guhl, 80, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 24, at Parkview Gardens Care Center.

He was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Las Vegas, son of Walter William Sr. and Edna May Hart Guhl. He married Delores D. Lawson on May 13, 1948, in Vinton.

He was a printer for Rath Packing Co. from 1947-56, worked at Curt Craft Co. for a year and retired from Matt Parrott and Sons in 1996. He was active in his church, serving as a deacon and usher. He was a Boy Scout troop leader of Pack 14 at Edison School and was an Order of the Arrow recipient.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, country and gospel music.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Larry (Char) of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Lora) of Solon and Ralph (Patty) of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Rhonda (Billy) Stewart of Grandview, Texas, and Deanna (Darin) Wilkerson of Canyon, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Julie and Sara, both of Palmer, Alaska; two sisters, LaDean (Tony) Weber of Gilbertville and Mary Fitzgerald of Evansdale; a stepsister, Shirley Motes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Donald Tobin; his stepmother, Lola Guhl; two sons, James and Rick; two brothers, Walter W. Jr. and Alvin in infancy; a sister, Eunice Mason; a daughter-in-law, Alisa Guhl; a grandson, Scott; a stepbrother, Billy Thomas; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda Guhl.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
