Alberta Lucille Frederick

WATERLOO, IOWA — Alberta Lucille Frederick, 95, of Waterloo, died Monday (Jan. 10, 2005) at Ravenwood Nursing Home of natural causes.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Home, 300 W. Ridgeway in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family.

She was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Dubuque, daughter of Charles and Lillian LaPiere. She married Russell Frederick on Dec. 26, 1936, in Dubuque. He died July 15, 1987.

Mrs. Frederick graduated from Independence High School in 1928 and Pitze's Beauty College in Waterloo 1932. She and her husband operated several beauty saloons in Independence and Waterloo. She was also employed for several years by Bell Telephone in Waterloo as a telephone operator.

After retirement, she and her husband were house parents at Mooseheart Children's Orphanage in Aurora, Ill. She was a life member of the Women of the Moose, member of Eastern Star and a Bell Telephone Ding-a-Ling.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou (Doug) Brown of Lake Placid, N.Y.; a son, Roger (Kim) Frederick of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Allison Frederick of Iowa City, Ryan Frederick of Waterloo, Tyler Brown of Portsmouth, N.H. and Robin Anthony of Lake Placid, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Linus and Wilfred LaPiere.
