CEDAR FALLS - Harry Paul Gutknecht, 76, of rural Cedar Falls, died at home Tuesday, March 1.

He was born April 29, 1934. He was the son of Ewald and Louise Engel Gutknecht. He married Roberta Mae Brown on Aug. 22, 1955, in Waterloo.

Mr. Gutknecht graduated from Hudson High School in 1953 and attended Iowa State University, Ames. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and owner of Midwest Tour and Travel for many years.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Debbie Dionne (Randy) Nieman of Buckingham and Connie Leigh (Tim) Taplin of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Clayton James Nieman, Anna JoLeigh Nieman, Allison Leigha Taplin and Alexis LeAnna Taplin; a great-granddaughter, Lyla Jocelyn; a brother, Lawrence (Sharon) Zellmer of Moville; and a sister, Rose Sands of Waverly.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a brother; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Brown.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, Waterloo, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Military honors will be conducted by Hudson AMVETS Post 82. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
